Joy that does not Waver

I have experienced God’s joy–truly unexpected and inexplicable–in the midst of the deepest of sorrows. I have been able to shout authentic hurrahs at the harvest and held armloads of blessings in the desert. God is indeed good!

This is not because I have worked hard to acquire joy, for joy is not based on anything I have done. It isn’t because I’ve been blessed with a life void of trials, for true joy is independent of my circumstances. I have experienced both joy and deep sorrow at the same time. Pain and hardship cannot cancel my joy; in fact, they magnify it.

God’s grace invades my pain and disappointment. He wipes away my tears and whispers sweet promises to strengthen and secure me. Joy celebrates as I trust Him to work all things together for good. He has been good to me, He is good today, and He will be good again. I choose to celebrate Him.

Psalm 126: 3, 5 “The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad. Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!”
